A wonderful cook, housekeeper and most of all mother. Mother learned to cook thosecajan meals with rice that my dad so loved. She cooked cakes and wonderful pies and great cobblers that I would raid the icebox for on saturday mornings and eat whilewatching cartoons. When daddy had his heart atack she went to work to support uswhile he was in the hosptial for 3 months and at home for awhile to recouperate before he returned to work. Then she had to learn to cook a little different becauseof his heart, but she still had to have rice on the table at least 3 times a week. Motheralso took me on a number of bus trips to Indiana to visit my grandpaw and great aunt.I had a great time on my great aunt and uncles farm where they had cows,chickens afew horses, and a garden along with an old barn and corn crib. Their farm was ona hilltop over looking a valley that was beautiful to see out for so many miles across.I spent many a summer month in this wonderfull place. Mother is still with me althoughshe is in a nursing home. She too had a wonderful sense of humor. Thank you Mom.I love you Sue Anna Darce Allen.

Notes for Alfred Joseph Darce:My father was a good and fair man. He served in ww 1 and ww 2. He left Brousard to join the Navy in World War 1 and then settled in Houston,Texas working as a type setter at Cargills Printing Co. He re-enlisted in World War 2 and after the war was over he returned to his job at Cargills Printing Co. Daddy was born into the Catholic faith but later join the First Methodist Church where I was baptisted by the Rose as a todler. Father was quick with a smile and had a good sense of humor, he was well liked by all who knew him. If you mentioned politics, be prepared to hear his views. A Democrate by choice, but if he thought that a Republican was the best choice for office that Repulican got his vote. So he indeed was a fair and wise man. My fatherand my sister Delores, whose mom had passed as a young girl loved to go to Lafeyette, Broussard and sometimes to New Orleans, Louisiana and since my dad did not drive and we did not own a car my sister Delores would take my dad, mom and me to Louisiana. We always had a good time. We would stop off in Lake Charles where we would eat and my dad would call Darce relatives there. Sometimes daddy would go to New Iberia and visit some Darce relatives there, but mainly it was the Girouard family we would visit in Broussard. There was Don's Seafood and the old Buckhorn Bar were they had on display, behind the bar, 2 headed animals, when we were in Lafeyette. In Broussard there was the old Nicks Cafe where my Aunt Della worked. The old plantation house with aunts, uncles, cousins, chickens, turkeys, horses and brema bulls with female cattle and a few horses. Of course there were the sugar cane fields and plenty of cajun cooking along with the cajun french language. Back home there was chucrh, school and those special shopping trips that only me and daddy would take on the bus downtown to Palis Royals to buy me that special outfitthat only a father that loved his children would buy for that special occasion. In my opinion my father was the best father ever, except for our Father in Heaven and that being second to none. My father is the reason for my geneology, because of his last words to me the night before is passed away. His words will haunt me forever until I know the full meaning of what he wanted me to do. This is all for you daddy. I love you, Sue Anna.

Survivors include his wife, the former Mona M. Seacat; two sons, John M. Briscoe of Charlestown and Michael A. Briscoe of New Albany; two daughterss, Sonna Lu Belles and Janet Jackson, both of New Albany; five brothers, Waldo Briscoe of Sellersburg, Charles Briscoe od Fort Myers, Fla., Jim Briscoe of Kokomo, Richard Briscoe of Depauw and Raymond Briscoe of New Albany; a sister, Dorothy Bye of Clarksville; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral was Friday at Seabrook Funeral Home with burial in Milltown Cemetery. The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice of Southern Indiana.
