2664. John Robert Thomas Rives ¹ (James Monroe Rives , Green (Buck) Rives , Unknown Son Rives , Mary Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ^{2, 3, 4} on 13 Jun 1875 in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

John Robert Thomas was educated in the common schools of Bedford county, Tennessee, and entered upon a railroad career at the age of fifteen, serving successively as news agent, flagman, and conductor on the L. & N. R. R. In 1921 he was made Deputy President of the Order of Railway Conductors of America and, in January 1927, Editor of the Railway Conductor, published by the Order of Railway Conductors in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His natural ability brought him to the fore wherever he exercised his talents. In 1915 he was elected Mayor of Inglenook, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama; was Coroner of Jefferson Co., Alabama, 1917-21; and in 1923 became a member of the Alabama Legislature from Jefferson county.

He was active in Alabama in the prohibition cause, having served as a member of the State Executive Committee for the ratification of the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. He was Chairman of the first joint meeting of the four National Railway Brotherhoods that initiated the movement which culminated in the enactment of an eight-hour day for all railway employees.

In addition to these varied activities, he was one of the organizers of the Federated Bank & Trust Co. (now the Southern Bank & Trust Co.), of Birmingham, of which he was a director; and is a 32nd degree Mason.

John married ² Mamie Lillian Gordon ¹ daughter of Amzi Jenkins Gordon and Mary Adline Snell on 19 Jun 1895 in Tennessee.

	7408	M	ii	Albert Gordon Rives 1 was born 2 on 12 Apr 1901 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was graduated from the University of Alabama law school (LL. B.) in 1924, having been a member of the Phi Alpha Delta and Sigma Chi fraternities, Skulls, Blackfriars (dramatic), and a member of the Executive Committee, Honor Committee, and Pan-Hellenic Council of the University. In 1923 he traveled for the University and in 1924 was Assistant Director of Athletics of that institution. In 1925 he entered the law firm of Loudon, Yancey, & Brewer, in Birmingham, Alabama.
				Albert married Hester Maude Burchfield 1 daughter of Joseph P. Burchfield and Alta Lee Snyder on 22 May 1926. She was from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, attended Judson College, Brenau College, and the University of Alabama (B. A., 1923; M. A., 1924).

2685. Andrew Jacob Bransford ¹ (Ann Mason Harper , Elizabeth Winfield Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born on 15 Oct 1832 in Cumberland Co., Virginia.

He moved with his mother to Canton, Mississippi, where he was reared and educated,. In 1860, he is found in Madison Co., Mississippi. He was provost marshal of Vicksburg during the Civil War and later clerk to Capt. Hillyear, transportation quarter master for port of Selma, Alabama. In 1870 he is found in Dallas Co., Alabama. In 1880 he and his family are living in Canton, Madison Co., Mississippi. The 1880 Census lists his occupation as Auctioneer.

Andrew married (1) Eugenia H. Dinkins daughter of Lewis Dinkins and Unknown on 5 Dec 1854 in Madison Co., Alabama. Eugenia died ¹ on 3 Nov 1862 in Canton, Madison Co., Mississippi.

2686. Elizabeth Scott Jones (Elizabeth Winfield (Eliza) Harper , Elizabeth Winfield Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ¹ in Apr 1835 in Tennessee.

In 1900 and 1910 she is found living with her son, Robert Batte Jones. The 1900 census indicates she has had only one child but the 1870 Census shows another son, Walter Scott Jones, born about 1867. Apparently the younger son died in childhood.

Elizabeth married Dr. Edward Thomas Jones ¹ son of Edward Henry Jones and Elizabeth Finney Bott. Edward was born ² on 13 Nov 1819 in Amelia Co., Virginia.

He was the grandson of Robert Edward Jones and Ann Ward. Family sources show he was born in Virginia but in 1910, Robert Batte Jones shows his father was born in Alabama.

Virginius married Sidney Evalina Turner ¹ on 12 Jun 1867 in Polk Co., Texas. Sidney was born ^{2, 3} on 15 May 1846 in Americus, Sumpter Co., Georgia. She died on 11 May 1927 in Polk Co., Texas. She was buried in Jones Prarie, near Leggett Texas.

The 1900 Census of Polk Co., Texas shows they have been married 24 years. They have had 9 children, all still living in the home.

Edward married Mary Matthews on 22 Dec 1875. Mary was born ¹ on 17 Feb 1854 in Thibadeaux, Louisiana. She died on 31 Jul 1925 in buried in Cross Roads Cemetery, Jones Prarie, near Leggett Texas.

Her parents moved to Texas and to Polk County in 1862 during the Civil War, when the South was being invaded by the Union Army.

He died on 23 Apr 1918 in Livingston, Texas. He was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Livingston, Texas.

The 1900 Census shows the couple have been married for 30 years. They have had 10 children with 7 living.

Joseph married Ada Rebecca Turner ¹ on 1 Jun 1869 in Mud Creek, Polk Co., Texas. Ada was born ^{2, 3} on 16 Mar 1851 in Americus, Sumpter Co., Georgia. She died on 11 Mar 1920 in Livingston, Texas. She was buried on 13 Mar 1920 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Livingston, Texas.

She was educated in Galveston and LaPort, Texas by private teachers.

	7434	F	iv	Patty (Sis Pat) Jones 1, 2 was born 3 on 30 Sep 1881 in Leggett Texas. She died on 20 Sep 1970 in Cleveland, Texas.
				Patty married Samuel Francis Hill 1 on 24 Nov 1904 in Livingston, Texas. Samuel was born in 1878 in Livingston, Texas. He died on 26 Jul 1955 in Houston, Harris Co., Texas.

2690. Robert Batte Jones (Elizabeth Winfield (Eliza) Harper , Elizabeth Winfield Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ^{1, 2, 3} on 22 Mar 1844 in Alabama. He died on 23 Jul 1928 in Polk Co., Texas. He was buried in Carr-Jones Cemetery, Polk Co., Texas.

During the Civil War he served with Co. A., Mississippi Mounted Infantry.

In 1880, the couple were living with her parents where Robert Batte Jones is identified as a son-in-law.

Robert married Carrie Matilda Carr daughter of John F. Carr and Arabella on 3 Sep 1874 in Polk Co., Texas. Carrie was born ^{1, 2, 3} on 18 Jul 1852 in Texas. She died in 1931.

Family records show the couple had other children who died young without issue but the 1900 census shows the couple have been married for 26 years. It says they have had 3 children, all living. The 3 children are still at home. We have used the birthdates taken from family sources since the 1900 census has obvious errors.

Her obituary reads in part:

Pioneer Woman is Dead at Smithfield
Mrs. Carrie M. Jones Dies After a Short Illness at age of 78.

"Mrs. Carrie M. Jones, 78 years of age, a pioneer citizen of Polk County, died Monday, February 2 at Smithfield at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lelia La Follette. She had been sick only a short time, hence her death came as a shock to her relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the home February 3 by Rev. P. P. Dawson, pastor of the Presbyterian churches at Livingston and New Willard. Burial was at the family cemetery near Smithfield, in the presence of many friends and relatives. Mrs. Jones is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Munson, Mrs. Lelia La Follette, and Mrs. Pearl Wiggins, 12 grandchildren and six great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones was born at Smithfield July 18, 1852. She had lived in this county practically all her life and at the time of her death was living on the same estate where she had been born.

Her father, Capt. John F. Carr, and her mother came to Texas from Memphis, Tennessee in the early days when Texas was still a republic. So Mrs. Jones learned from her parents much about pioneer life in Texas and heard stories of Gen. Sam Houston, Burnett, Austin and other statesmen with whom her father was personally acquainted.

She was educated chiefly by private teachers on the plantation, also attending, for a time, a school conducted for girls on Galveston Bay, by Mrs. A. G. A. Beazley.

September 3, 1874 she was married to Robert B. Jones. They had eight children, four of whom died in infancy. The eldest son, Robert, died in 1903. Mr. Jones died a little over two years ago.

				Carrie married (1) Stephen E. Tullos on 6 Jul 1907. Stephen was born 1 on 30 Dec 1879 in Texas. He died 2 on 30 Oct 1915 in Polk Co., Texas. He was buried 3 in Oates Cemetery, Polk Co., Texas.
				Carrie married (2) Wiggins.

2694. Sallie B. Harper ¹ (Joseph Wells Harper , Elizabeth Winfield Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ^{2, 3, 4} on 19 Mar 1883. She died ⁵ on 21 Jun 1958.

At the time of the 1900 Census she is found living with her grandfather, James H. Ferguson.

Her birthdate is given as March 1882 on the 1900 census but her parents were not married until 1883, if her mother was Eliza Ferguson.

Sallie married ¹ Rev. Eugene Hume Powell son of Albert Theodore Powell and Louisa Jones Thweatt on 30 Nov 1904 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia. Eugene was born ^{2, 3} on 10 Jul 1872 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia. He died ⁴ on 17 Sep 1926 in Dinwiddie Co., Virginia.

They had the following children:

2695. Dr. Henry Field (Martha Winfield Harper , Elizabeth Winfield Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ^{1, 2} in 1814 in Virginia. He died ³ in 1856.

Although we do not have documentation, the middle initial "S" in his children's names would seem to be Scott which supports that Henry Field was the child of the first marriage of Thomas Field to Martha Scott.

Henry married ¹ Mary Jane Bates in 1835. Mary was born ^{2, 3} in 1814 in Alabama. She died ⁴ in 1895.

In 1860 Mary Jane was a widow. Her 6 younger children remain at home. In 1880 she is found living with her son, Scott Field, in Robertson Co., Texas.

They had the following children:

	7447	F	iii	Ada A. Field was born 1, 2, 3 in Aug 1839 in Mississippi. She died in 1918 in Robertson Co., Texas. She was buried in Calvert Cemetery, Robertson Co., Texas. In 1910, Ada is shown as a widow, living with her sister, Mary Taliaferro and her husband, William Taliaferro, in Beaumont, Texas. The 1910 Census further shows that she has had 2 children but none living. In 1910 she was living with her sister, Mary Taliaferro, in Beaumont, Texas.
				Ada married Joseph Langhorn Browning. Joseph was born 1, 2, 3 in 1828 in Alabama. The 1900 Census of Robertson Co., Texas reflects the couple have been married for 32 years. Ada has had 2 children but none living.
	7448	M	iv	Thomas S. Field 1 was born 2, 3 in 1842 in Mississippi.
	7449	M	v	Henry M. (Harry) Field was born in 1844. He died in 1915.
	7450	M	vi	Scott Field was born on 26 Jan 1847. He died on 20 Dec 1931.
	7451	F	vii	Mary J. S. Field was born in 1849. She died in 1923.

2697. Elizabeth (Betty) Fisher ¹ (Martha Ann Walker , Ann Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ^{2, 3, 4} on 22 Nov 1828 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. She died on 24 May 1906 in Hubbard, Hill Co., Texas. She was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Hubbard, Hill Co., Texas.

Elizabeth married Dr. James P. Bolding on 22 May 1849 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. James was born ^{1, 2} on 23 Sep 1812 in Kentucky. He died on 25 Sep 1889.

Living with the couple in 1850 are Rachel West, age 55, and Sarah West, age 53, both born in Sourth Carolina. Sarah is still with the family on the 1860 Census.

The 1850 Census shows him to be age 35 and the 1880 Census gives his age as 66. His name is erroneously spelled Bolling on the 1850 Census.

	7454	F	iii	Sarah E. Bolding was born 1 about 1853 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi.
	7455	F	iv	Elizabeth Cornelia Bolding was born about 1855.
	7456	F	v	Rachel Bolding 1 was born 2, 3 about 1857 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. There is a Rachel C. shown on the 1860 Census, age 3.

Ellen married ¹ Benjamin F. McWhorter on 25 Dec 1856 in Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. Benjamin was born ^{2, 3} on 26 Jan 1830 in Alabama. He died on 6 Oct 1873 in Plantersville, Lee Co., Mississippi. He was buried in Union Methodist Church Cemetery, Plantersville, Lee Co., Mississippi.

After Ellen's death, Benjamin married Amelia Knox in 1865 and had additional children by his second wife..
