7450. Scott Field (Henry Field , Martha Winfield Harper , Elizabeth Winfield Scott , William Scott , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born ^{1, 2, 3, 4, 5} on 26 Jan 1847 in Canton, Mississippi. He died ⁶ on 20 Dec 1931 in Robertson Co., Texas.

The following is from the Handbook of Texas:

Scott Field, politician, was born in Canton, Mississippi, on January 26, 1847, the son of Henry and Jane (Bates) Field. During the Civil War he enlisted in Harvey's Scouts, and his unit was attached to Jackson's command under Gen. Nathan B. Forrest. In the Georgia campaign, he saw action with Joseph E. Johnston, and he also fought in the Tennessee theater under John B. Hood. After the war Field attended the University of Virginia, from which he graduated in 1868. He returned to Mississippi, taught school for two years while he studied law, and was admitted to the Mississippi bar in 1871. He moved in 1872 to Calvert, Texas, where he established a private practice. Field served two terms as county attorney in Robertson County between 1878 and 1882 and was elected to the Texas Senate for two terms, 1887 through 1891. While in the Senate he was credited with the act that forbade convict leasing. He was a delegate to the Democratic national convention at Chicago in 1892. He represented the Sixth Congressional District as a Democrat from 1903 to 1906. His law practice prospered, and he became a substantial landholder. Field was married three times. His first wife, Victoria Luckey of Mississippi, died after two years of marriage. He then wed Lucy Randolph of Calvert. They had three sons. After Lucy's death Field married a widow, Maude Green, of Calvert. He died in Robertson County on December 20, 1931.

A summary of her DAR papers is as follows:

Daughter of Henry Field (1814-56) and Mary Jane Bates (1814-95), his wife, m. 1835. Granddaughter of Thomas Field (d. 1828) and Martha Winfield Harper, his 2nd wife. Gr-granddaughter of Joseph Wells Harper and Elizabeth Winfield Scott, his wife. Gr-gr-granddaughter of William Scott and Ann Mason (d. 1802), his wife. William Scott (1747-91) served as lieutenant and captain, Virginia troops, during the Revolution. He was born and died in Petersburg, Va.

The 1900 Census gives her birth date as May 1854 but she is found on the 1850 Census. The 1900 Census also is in error regarding her place of birth which is shown as Georgia.

Mary married ^{2, 3} Judge William Garland Taliaferro ¹ son of Dr. Garland Taliaferro and Rebecca Bowen about 1873 in Texas. William was born ^{4, 5, 6, 7} in Mar 1849 in Virginia. He died in 1927 in Calvert, Robertson Co., Texas. William had a will probated on 16 Feb 1928 in Robertson Co., Texas.

Tombstone gives birth date of Nov. 13, 1848 and place of birth as Tennessee. This conflicts with all the Census records we have examined.

In 1910, he was age 26, living at home and working as an oil producer. The Pilcher book, published in 1911, simply says he was "killed in Texas."
				Herbert married Molly Buckley.

If the 1880 Census is correct, her parents must have lived in Virginia for only a short while. The 1880 Census correctly shows her father was born in Kentucky and her mother was born in Mississippi. The 1910 Census shows she was born in Mississippi which is believed to be correct.

The 1910 Census shows she has had 5 children with 3 living. Nell is still living at home.
