We were thrilled to get a Christmas gift in 2005 in the form of an e-mail note from someone who knew this family. Mr. Coleman wrote:
" I was raised on the farm on Lick Fork Branch of Mossy Creek in Fayette County, West Virginia, that adjoined the Richard N. Coleman farm. Growing up as a small boy I remember Aunt Annie. She was at that time living with Hallie (Coleman) and Gordon Payne. According to my father Hallie was the daughter of Richard and Annie.
I also knew Violet Ann Pegram very well. She married Charles Marion Powers and they had one son, Conard Powers. Violet and Charlie lived on a hill over looking the Coleman Church and the mouth of Lick Fork. My sister and I used to go to their house on winter afternoons, after school, to warm before walking the 2 1/2 miles up Lick Fork and home. My first three years of school was at the One Room School House built by George N. Pegram in about 1889 it was behind the Coleman Church.
Charles Marion Powers was the brother of Dorsey Donley Powers who was my wife's father.."
C. Omer Coleman

The 1900 Census does not give the date of birth but gives his age as 30. It also shows he was born in West Virginia but family records show he was born in Ohio. The Census shows the couple have been married for 12 years. They have had 4 children, all living in the home. This clearly raises a problem about Ella Lillian. She could not have been married already leaving the possibility that she was born after 1900 but at the moment we have no explanation.

The 1880 Census of Fayette Co., Virginia shows he was born in Ohio.

Albert married¹ Roxie (Roxey) A Williams on 8 Oct 1887 in Raleigh Co., West Virginia. Roxie was born² in Aug 1873 in West Virginia. She died before 1910 in West Virginia.
