UC Messenger--Monday, February 9, 2004Earl Carroll Earl Carroll, 79, of Whittier, Calif., a former resident of this area, died Feb. 1, 2004, at the home of his son, William Perry Carroll of Lake Isabella, Calif. Arrangements are incomplete. He was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Obion County, son of the late Fred B. and Bertha May (Chandler) Carroll of the Minnick community. He was a graduate of the former Cloverdale High School and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who entered service to his country in May 1943. He was a graduate of the Medical Tech School at Brook General Hospital in November 1943 and he served in several hospitals in England and France until March 1946. He was a retired employee of the Frito Lay Co. He is also survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Palmer, whom he married May 31, 1953, in Alhambra, Calif.; his daughter, Lynn Carroll of Sacramento, Calif.; two granddaughters, Colleen Carroll and Julie Carroll, both of Lake Isabella; his grandson, David Carroll of Lake Isabella; his twin sister, Earline Evans of Newbern; his sister, Mary Rottgering of Paducah, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Norville Carroll and Sam Carroll, both of Minnick, and Forrest Carroll of San Gabriel, Calif; and two sisters, Hilda (Carroll) Harrison of Minnick and Hazel (Carroll) Cunningham of Hornbeak.

Earl married ¹ Dorothy Palmer on 31 May 1953 in Alhambra, Los Angeles Co., California.

They had the following children:

Shortly before 1930 he moved to Van Wert in Van Wert Co., Ohio where he appears on the 1930 Census. There is a newpaper article

His obituary appeared in the Kansas City Star on April 9, 1991 and reads as follows:

Marvin A. Pegram, 86, died April 7, 1991, in the John Knox Village Care Center, 600 N.W. Pryor Road, Lee's Summit, where he lived. He was born in Owensville, Ind., and lived in Denver before moving to this area in 1945. Mr. Pegram worked for Montgomery Ward & Co. Inc. for 38 years, retiring as a manager in 1966. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Mildred E. Pegram, Lee's Summit; a son, Charles R. Pegram, Independence; a daughter, Shirley R. Erickson, Arvada, Colo.; a brother, Winfred E. Pegram, Owensville; and four grandchildren. Services will be private; burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

Marvin married Mildred E.. Mildred was born about 1907 in Kentucky.

She was shown as age 22 on th e1930 Census.

Winfred married Carol Key ¹. Carol was born ² on 16 Nov 1907. She died ³ on 6 Aug 1999 in Owensville, Gibson Co., Indiana.

Her obituary which appeared in the Evansville Courier & Press reads in part as follows:

Owensville, Ind. - Carol K. Pegram, 91, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1999, at Owensville Convalescent Center. She was a 1925 graduate of Princeton High School and a graduate of Battle Creek (Mich.) College. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald of Owensville, Richard of Deltona, Fla., and Phillip of Indianapolis; two brothers, Maurice Key of Champagne, Ill., and Norman Key of Evansville; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Her husband, Winfred, died in 1994.

MRS. JESSE TABOR

Funeral services for Mrs. Jesse Tabor were held Friday afternoon from the
Baptist church with the Rev. L. Pennington, Kansas City, officiating. Burial
was made in the Mount Sidney cemetery.

Mrs. Opal Lydia Tabor, age 33 years was born November 26, 1904 at Quincy,
Kansas. She came here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hamilton in 1908.
On November 25, 1925, she was married to Jesse Tabor and they have since
made their home in Linwood.

Besides her husband she is survived by three children. Jackie 9, Jennie Opal
7, and Betty Lou 5, all of the home and two brothers, Clarence and Eugene
Hamilton and one sister, Mrs. Irene Jeffries and her father, Mr. Charles
Hamilton all of Kansas City.

MRS. OPAL TABOR

Mrs. Opal Tabor, wife of Jesse Tabor of Linwood passed away Wednesday morning
about 4 o'clock. Besides her husband she leaves three children, Jackie Lee,
Jenny Opal, and Betty Lou.

Funeral will be Friday at 2 P.M. at the Baptist church with Rev. L.C.
Pennington, Kansas City, Mo officiating.

Opal married Jesse L. (Heck) Tabor on 27 Nov 1925 in Kansas City, Kansas. Jesse was born on 3 Mar 1901. He died on 24 Feb 1967 in St Marys Hosp, Linwood, Kansas. He was buried in Mt Sidney Cemetary, Linwood, Kansas.
